Ex-servicemen in clerical cadre also to benefit
State Bank of India has announced a policy for promotion of specialist category of clerical cadre employees and ex-servicemen employees in the clerical cadre to the officer cadre.
This is in response to demand to the effect by the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation, trade union sources said.
Separate channel
E-circulars issued by the bank said that a separate channel for promotion under specialist category has been created for clerical employees who have been recruited for specialist jobs.

Among the posts considered for promotion are assistant manager (communication), assistant manager (security support), assistant manager (healthcare support), assistant manager (maintenance), and assistant manager (official language).
The newly promoted officers may have to move out of the present circle or corporate centre establishment to occupy vacancies available in other circle or corporate office establishments.
Employees who have put in at least 12 years of service with a minimum 10{+t}{+h} standard pass and with a maximum age limit of 55 years (57 in the case of SCs/STs) are eligible for promotion under the policy.
Special gesture
Based on a representation by the Federation, the management has agreed, as a one-time measure, to consider all such employees who are otherwise eligible and having a residual service of at least two years.
Meanwhile, promotion of ex-servicemen employees in clerical cadre will be a one-time exercise and will be carried out in the current promotion year, 2015-16, the e-circulars said.
Ex-servicemen (combatant) re-employed in the clerical cadre and serving in that capacity (other than in specialist category) are eligible for promotion.
The maximum age limit prescribed is 45 years (50 in the case of SCs/STs), minimum educational qualification is 10{+t}{+h} standard and minimum service in clerical cadre, two years.
